Broadlands Evangelical Church (BEC) is a growing independent church that meets in the heart of the Broadlands community. We are a group of Christians who believe that everyone’s greatest need is a relationship with God. We believe that the only way to have this relationship is through Jesus Christ. We also believe that the only way to know Jesus is through the Bible.
Our aim in all things is to worship God with all our heart, mind and lives. Part of worshipping the God of the Bible is telling everyone about the ‘good news’ of Jesus. We are a church made up of a variety of ages and backgrounds. We offer a warm welcome to newcomers and visitors from all walks of life.
BEC is a member of ‘Affinity’ (www.affinity.org.uk). This means that we are united with over 1300 congregations throughout Britain who have the Bible as the centre of their church worship, theology, practice and personal lives.
Phil Grub is currently preaching on Philippians
“Philippians - nobody told us it would be this tough!”
The Philippian believers were suffering as a result of the courageous way they contended for the Gospel and were wondering if Christian discipleship was really meant to be this tough. As we progress through this epistle we shall see how the Apostle Paul responds to Christians suffering persecution. Is this relevant for a church in Wales today? Christian liberty within the UK has been eroded over the last few years to such an extent that it is conceivable that those who faithfully contend for the Gospel will be discriminated against. Philippians is a timely reminder of how we should conduct ourselves in such a context.
